Jason was asked to make a Kitchen Island, and a photo was given as inspiration:
The dimensions would be custom to this clients Kitchen space.
As always, we always try to reuse and re-purpose other pieces of furniture and incorporate them into our work, as seen in the bottom corner of this unit, I see past lives… A home made dresser and parts of a desk. To me, there is just something special about bringing new life to something that was old and no longer wanted. These pieces will live on for another lifetime!
Once it was constructed it was moved to it’s permanent home, painted in a pale vintage turquoise chalk paint, waxed and distressed. the top stained and protected with a food grade protectant. (finishing details by the new owner)
A set of drawers were created, and leaving enough room to fit a standard dishwasher.
Two counter stools have been added to the opposite side of the dishwasher.
The dark details of the medallion and the drawer pulls echo the fixtures in the rest of the room.
